If I wanted to eat Korean food in Kuching, this is the restaurant I'll go to. Two reasons, first its located near my house and secondly the food is great. Besides that, the food is cheaper than any other Korean restaurant in town. But mainly because the food is awesome. Anybody out there who still haven't tried Korean food in Kuching, go now for the love of god and for first timer's, I'll recommend this restaurant. :)
And by the way, this restaurant is strictly non-halal as they served pork as well as alcoholic beverages.
(You know la, korean people ba, eat meat and drink is their favourite 'hobby'. People who watched Korean drama or any other Korean show should know. haha )
Front view of the restaurant. It has been renovated, the signboard is still the same , don't worry. But the interior has been changed. Much better in my opinion.
The menu (Old menu)
Explanation of the dishes. You can even learn korean language at the same time. For example jigae = stew. rofl. I'll try to stop being lame.
The famous Korean chopstick and the spoon.
I actually like their spoon. You know how people always need to stand up in order to reach the food that has been placed quite far from them on the table? Well, for lazy people like me, this is the solution, with the long design of the spoon, I can just sit and spooned up food (mainly soup or rice dishes) that has been placed further away easily. Not so fond of the chopsticks, still preferred Chinese ones. Easier to handle.
Enough of that, let's get right to the dishes. Drinks first.
Jujube Tea I believe. Forgot how it taste like but I think it's good. Refreshing. RM 3
Barley Tea. Kinda taste like coffee. RM3
This is the owner. As you can see, he's grilling the pork belly here.
This must taste so good with beer. I have no idea, I don't like beer but I do love Pork Belly!!! Not the ones with a lot of fat on it though. :S
Now on to my favourite Korean food!
Kimchi Jigae (Kimchi Stew) RM 18. Spicy awesomeness!!! Served with a rice and side dishes.
Spicy foods makes me happy, not too spicy though. If it's too spicy it'll ruin the dish and what's the point in eating if the spiciness overcome the taste of the food right? lol. Anyway, the stew here is really delicious. Great on a rainy day.
Bibimbap. RM 18. Served with a seaweed soup and side dishes. The side dishes changes from time to time but one side dish will always be in there, Kimchi.
What goes great with Kimchi Jigae, Bibimbap of course! There's no wonder why Bibimbap is the national food of Korea. It's simple but it taste so good. Plus, it's healthy for you and are you trying to keep fit or losing a couple of kgs, this is the perfect food for you.
Beef Bulgogi. RM 22. Served with a rice, seaweed soup and side dishes.
Taste good, I'm not a fan of beef but it's good. And again, healthy. :)
The side dishes. From left to right, starting from the black beans, tiny corn pancake, fishball thingy, Kimchi and in the center it's an apple. I kid....of course I know it's a slice of watermelon. rofl. The black beans is the best for me.
As you can see, the table clothes have different colours in the picture above and below, that is because this pics was taken on different occasion and I was too lazy to blog about it. The purple table clothes was after the renovations.
4 types of meat BBQ set. RM 62. Came with 2 rice, a Kimchi Jigae and side dishes.
Grilled pork. Not bad.
Chicken. I love chicken so this is the best ones out of all the meats in my opinion.
I think this was either beef or lamb. I'm guessin lamb.
...And uh this might be beef. I'm not sure. Doesn't matter, as long as it taste great. haha
Pajeon (Korean pancake). RM 20. It's pancake that has squid, prawns, oysters and veggies in it. It's a big pancake and this is just a slice of it.
I gotta say, the pancake here was not that good, I prefer the ones at Koreana Restaurant.
Craving for spicy foods? Korean food is one of the solution. Go go!
